CPRE Shropshire welcomes the decision by Sita UK not to continue with its application for the incinerator.

December 2009

CPRE Shropshire welcomed the decision by Telford and Wrekin council to throw out the incinerator scheme. CPRE Vice Chairman Andy Boddington said “The scheme was an unwelcome intrusion into the green network and threatened to undermine future recycling plans. The council has made an excellent decision and we urge Sita UK not to challenge it. The council should now hasten its progress towards a zero waste community.”

October 2008

CPRE Telford and Wrekin has objected to the plans for an incinerator, including that:

  • it is within the green network
  • it is in breach of local plans
  • it will have a significant visual impact, including on Granville Country Park.
