Quarrying and Minerals
CPRE Shropshire
CPRE does not oppose mineral extraction in principle, but is concerned at the impact of some quarries and some applications to quarry will have on rare and beautiful landscape. We are also concerned about loss of tranquillity from quarry and extraction noise, and associated transport. Where there is significant potential damage, we will argue that planning permission should be refused or conditions should be attached to minimise environmental damage. CPRE also aims to reduce the damage to the countryside from quarrying by encouraging the more efficient use of aggregates and managing demand. We believe this can be achieved through recycling, making greater use of alternatives and reducing waste in construction. Further Information |
