CPRE Shropshire Policy Position Statement 3
Waste and Recycling

CPRE Shropshire believes that waste policy should be governed by a waste hierarchy which places in order of priority, waste minimisation, reuse, recycling and composting, energy recovery, and lastly disposal to landfill.

CPRE Shropshire will consider each proposal for a waste treatment facility on its own merits.

However we will seek demonstration that the proposal will not prevent waste disposal options further up the waste hierarchy from being fully exploited, and that the impacts of the proposal on the landscape and neighbourhood have been minimised.

Potential impacts of particular concern are: visual , air pollution, traffic, noise.

For waste facilities involve energy generation, maximum usage must be made of both the electrical and heat energy produced.
