6 March. 350 people march to Save Oswestry.

Thanks to everyone who marched in Oswestry today. We counted 320 people leaving Cae Glas Park and many joined during the march. The protest had a really cheerful atmosphere, and was applauded by many passers by.

The time to make a stand. The time to say no to more supermarkets

Store Battle to Hit Streets

Its time to raise our voices against the supermarket applications in Oswestry. Any one of the four applications currently being considered by Shropshire Council will undermine the revival of Oswestry town centre and its markets.

We need to shout loudly that we love Oswestry and that we want it to remain a market town. We need to tell the world that we do not want Oswestry to slide into clone town anonymity like so many once memorable market towns. We need to raise our voices to stop Oswestry becoming a ghost town like Wrexham where life has been sucked from town centre streets by Eagles Meadow.

That’s why we must march on 6 March. We want to celebrate Oswestry, and we must protest and shout “NO!” to more supermarkets. The march begins at 11am at Cae Glas Park in Church Street.

Please join us on the march. It will a cheerful family event. If you can create a bit of music, bash out some percussion, wave a banner or just croak a few shouts that will be great. If you want to march in silence, that’s just fine. Please join us because it is time to say “NO!” to the relentless steamrollering of market towns by the big retail chains. It is time to shout “YES!” for local markets, small shops and the communities that they support.

If we can’t save Oswestry, where can we save?

Join us please for a carnival atmosphere and a vital message. “NO!” to more supermarkets in Oswestry.
