Driving and flying offer many people many benefits, but both have damaging environmental effects. New roads and new runways scar the landscape, while speeding traffic and roaring aircraft erode tranquillity for people who live near major roads or under flight paths. Speeding traffic creates more noise and can be frightening pedestrian on rural roads and in villages. CPRE Shropshire wants a better balance between private and public transport. We want jobs, shops and services to be provided locally so that people don't need to drive to reach them.
