CPRE Shropshire Campaign Image 180x210 |
May 2008 At the Annual General Meeting held in May 2008 a successor to His Honour Judge Michael Mander was unanimously elected as our new President. She is Sarah Bury whose roots are firmly in the Shropshire countryside. She has lived in the Corvedale in South Shropshire for forty years. Her experience of the issues that are important to, and exercise, CPRE are primarily those of someone who feels passionately for the future of the English countryside. Sarah is determined to preserve all that is best in our countryside whilst being conscious of the importance of maintaining the rural communities which are so vital. Sarah lives in a beautiful house which is listed as are the grounds that surround it. Her family owns an estate and she runs the Home Farm which has a small herd of organically kept welsh black cows. Sarah has wide experience that will be valuable and pertinent to the work of CPRE. She was a member of South Shropshire District Council for sixteen years and was, for most of that time, on the Planning Committee of which she was Chair for the last two years. She was also the South Shropshire District Council representative on the JAC (Joint Advisory Committee) for the Shropshire Hills AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) for eight years and Chairman of it for six of those years, latterly as an independent member. Sarah has also been a committee member of the Shropshire CLA (Country Landowners Association) for a period of six years and was their representative on the National Committee of Rural Voice. Sarah is clearly committed to the English countryside and in particular to Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. We look forward to having her as our President. |
