SHREWSBURY DISTRICT GROUP

The Shrewsbury Branch of the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England meets quarterly in the meeting room of Bear Steps (with kind permission of the Civic Society). At present, there are twelve members.

 

Campaigns/successes achieved in 2018 include:

  • The chair and secretary of the Shrewsbury Branch attended a Planning Workshop in Stafford organised by central office CPRE in April.​

  • On behalf of Charles Green (a member of the Oswestry Branch of CPRE and an honorary attendee at the July Shrewsbury Branch meeting), Susan (as a constituent) forwarded his comment on national housing targets to the MP for Shrewsbury & Atcham, Daniel Kawczynski, who has responded.​

  • At the Shrewsbury Branch meeting in July, the committee expressed its concern re a planning application to build on community open land (Mousecroft Lane Fields) in Radbrook Ward. The county councillor for this ward is being approached re residents’ concerns and a front-page article in the Chronicle was achieved last Thursday, 16 August.​

  • Susan is encouraging the county councillor for Rea Valley to agree to run a CPRE Green Clean programme this Autumn
