This is the third of 6 geology walks visiting important geological sites in the county of Shropshire, in partnership with the Shropshire Geological Society and in celebration of CPRE’s centenary year.
We will be combining the Lime Kiln and Lea Quarry walks (total length: around 3.5 km) - the going is relatively level overall but uneven ground and short, steep steps in places.
We will first spend time on the Lime Kiln circuit looking at the outcrops and remains of the quarrying/lime industries. There will then be time to hunt for (small) fossils at the edge of the Lea Quarry and admire the views. There will be options to return to the Much Wenlock car park on foot (around 2.5 km), or return to Presthope either via the ridge or on lower paths through the woods.
Practical Details
Basic fitness is required for these walks and suitable waterproof clothing will be required.
The full list of walks is below. Bookings for walks 4-6 will open separately.
