As part of our Centenary celebrations in 2026, CPRE Shropshire had funding to run a year long geology project.

 

This included six geology walks, one per month from April 2026 to see and explore different important sites for geology in Shropshire.

The walks were free to attend and took place as follows (See our general walks poster here):
 

1: Sunday 19 April: PreCambrian - Pontesford & Earl’s Hill 

2: Saturday 16 May: Ordovician - Stiperstones & the Bog 

3: Saturday 6 June: Stiperstones - Geology and Art walk 
4: Sunday 21 June: Silurian - Wenlock Edge 
5: Saturday 18 July: Devonian & Carboniferous - Titterstone Clee 
6: Sunday 16 August: Carboniferous - Llanymynech Rocks 
7: Saturday 19 September: Permo-Triassic - Nesscliffe Hill & the Cliffe
